The Cleveland Indians are really dancing now since they have won the last four meetings with the Tigers – including a 4-2 win Tuesday – since breaking a 10-game losing streak against Detroit last month. They’ll try to continue that dominance over the Tigers and keep going up towards the top of the American League Central when the three-game series continues at Comerica Park.Cleveland has returned within 1 ½ games of the division-leading Chicago White Sox. The Indians held a 3 ½ game lead prior to losing seven of nine heading into the series in Detroit. The Tigers weren’t fortunate with six out of eight games and are six games behind the White Sox. Their underachieving has been held to four runs or fewer in seven of the past eight games.

Gomez has lost his last two starts, and he didn’t look so good while doing so. He gave up six runs in 5 2/3 innings May 25 against the White Sox, then followed it up by allowing five runs in as many innings last Wednesday against Kansas City. On the contrary, Scherzer has won his last three starts and his last four decisions, not to mention that he hasn’t lost since April 29. He posted his sixth quality start last time out, holding Boston to three runs on seven hits over six innings. Scherzer has piled up 30 strikeouts in his last three starts and has struck out nine or more five times in 11 starts.
He is 4-3 with a 4.98 ERA in eight starts against Cleveland, but he was 3-0 in four starts against the Indians last season.
